How to change DNS setting on windows 7 network adapter

DNS is an important factor when we browse the web. With DNS we don't need to remember complex IP address number of web site and only need to input simple name such as google.com. In this post i will provide step by step on how to change DNS on windows 7 network adapter.

Let's begin with the tutorial :
  1. Press windows key and R to open "run" windows and then type "ncpa.cpl" without quote and press enter.
    Run command network adapter
  2. Or you can open control panel, choose network and sharing center and then click change adapter settings on the top left side.
  3. Now right click on network adapter that you want to modify and choose properties.
  4. Double click on internet protocol version 4.
  5. Choose "Use the following DNS addresses" and input your preferred DNS (ex: google DNS 8.8.8.8). You can left secondary DNS empty if you only have 1 DNS address.

  6. Click Ok and you are good to go.
Remember that this tutorial doesn't work if your ISP is using DNS filtering / tranparent DNS proxy to filter your DNS traffic. To bypass this kind of filtering, you can try using DNScrypt. See this Tutorial on how to use it. Cheers.
